Beethoven Op. 30 No. 3 – Kreisler & Rachmaninoff (Restored, Unpublished Version)

A newly restored, previously unpublished transfer of Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 8 in G major, Op. 30 No. 3, performed by Fritz Kreisler and Sergei Rachmaninoff. This sonata was recorded by the legendary duo in Camden, New Jersey, on March 22, 1928. This performance captures one of the most remarkable collaborations in recorded chamber music: Kreisler’s unmistakable warmth and elegance, joined by Rachmaninoff’s commanding, highly articulate pianism. Beethoven’s Op. 30 No. 3 is among the most spirited and extrovert of the violin sonatas, moving from a brilliant Allegro assai to a graceful central Tempo di minuetto, and closing with a sparkling Allegro vivace. For this restoration, special care was taken to preserve instrumental body, transient clarity, and the natural balance between violin and piano while reducing surface noise and transfer harshness. The aim was not to modernize the performance, but to reveal it with greater presence, coherence, and listening comfort.
