In 1848 CE, in the first chapter of The Communist Manifesto, Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels wrote that the history of all existing societies is the history of class struggles. Now, that’s been debated and argued and challenged throughout the years, and whether or not you believe it, I think there’s one part of human history where it applies more so than any other, and that is the history of the Indian Subcontinent. On the Subcontinent, class is roughly known by another name as well, caste. Today, we'll dive into how the Muslims of India came to adopt castes, something explicitly prohibited in Islam.
