The game was played Saturday at Warner Park in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This is a large regional event. The 16U Triad Division alone has 20 pools of six teams each, 120 teams total, drawing top travel softball competition from across the country. The Lady Dukes jumped out in the top of the first. Leah Fair drew a bases-loaded walk and Julie Garrison singled home two for an early 3-0 lead. Carolina Elite answered with a five-run bottom of the first on six hits, capped by a two-run single from Leah Troutman following a six-pitch at-bat, and they held the lead the rest of the way in a one-run finish. Natalie McKain had a huge day at the plate for the Lady Dukes, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Ava Richardson added two hits. For Carolina Elite Bullard/Drotar 16U, Troutman and Dava Bullard each collected two hits, with Carmen Kelly, Addie Jumper, and Troutman each driving in a run.
