Chili Anzucht Schritt für Schritt Teil 13: Chilis stützen

It's the end of June, the first chilies are ripening, so what needs to be done now? At this time of year, it's important to support the chili plants and remove the leaves near the base. Some shoots can also be removed to allow more air circulation and let more light reach the fruit. If you have time to tend to the plants regularly (we usually don't), it's best not to remove too much foliage at once. Removing a lot of leaves at once can cause sunburn on the fruit that was previously shaded. We support the chili plants with thin bamboo stakes and tie them up with jute twine. The jute twine can then be composted along with the plants in late autumn. The bamboo stakes last for several years and, when they become brittle, can also be composted.
