'From the archives' - Episode 58: Trains at Tamworth in October 2009

This video shows the result of a visit to see trains at Tamworth station on 29th October 2009. In the video, we see a variety of CrossCountry, London Midland and Virgin Trains passenger services, alongside a plethora of freight movements at the hands of Class 47s, Class 60s, Class 66s, Class 70s, Class 86s, Class 90s and Class 325s. Since this was filmed, London Midland and Virgin Trains have faded into obscurity, being succeeded by LNWR and Avanti West Coast respectively. Class 47s and Class 86s are rarely employed on freight workings in the UK these days, whilst Class 325s have mostly been scrapped or stored. Class 60s are now a relative rarity on freight movements, generally being consigned to the South-East region with DC Rail. However, the Class 66s, 70s and 90s still enjoy plenty of traffic in the current era. Enjoy! About 'From the archives': This series will place a spotlight on the UK rail network between 2007 and 2012, showing trains, operators and scenes that, in many cases, have been lost to time over the past 18 years. All videos in this series was filmed with my old Panasonic DVD camcorder, so the quality will be lower than my more modern videos, but the footage still remains too good not to share! My aim is to release a weekly video from this series, so please stay tuned for dozens more videos in the future.
