Paragliding Miraflores, Lima, Peru

Calina and I were flying in Roldanillo, Colombia, and then went for a few moths of travelling around South America, Our first stop was Lima, Peru, and so we got to have a fly at their local site, Miraflores. Although our flight was pretty short, about 40 minutes because the wind was picking up it was still one of the most memorable flights I have had, mainly because it is so bizarre to be flying alongside a sprawling metropolis like Lima. You launch, climb up, and then have the ocean on one side and a massive city as far as the eye can see on the other. The wind was crossed and going up to 35km an hour so we kind of had to crawl to make any progress in one direction, but equally it was easy to get enough height to be high above the buildings along the coast. The site is free to fly and you can chat to one of the tandem pilots on site and they will give you a site briefing, you have a pretty tiny landing spot by the beach if you can't top land, so that was a bit nerve wrecking, but when the wind is right the top landing area is huge, and the guys will talk you in if you need it. Paragliding in Lima was pretty awesome! A+ for a soaring site
