Video Title 🎥: 🚇 LEONARDO 760 on the 🔴 M1 line from SAN BABILA to SESTO 1°MAGGIO FS 🔴 M1 🔴: SAN BABILA It was built as part of the first section, from Sesto Marelli to Lotto, of the Milan Metro M1 line, which entered service on November 1, 1964. Located beneath the square of the same name, the station shares a structure common to almost all the other stations on the line: it is an underground through station with two tracks, one for each direction of travel, served by two side platforms. Above it is a mezzanine containing the turnstiles and the station attendant's booth. From 1964 to 1990, the mezzanine housed the metro control center, along with the video surveillance system for all the stations in existence at the time. The station was designed for the four-line network planned in 1952. In May 1990, with the inauguration of the M3 line, a new station was built on Viale Monte Rosa, and the controls for the M1 and M2 lines were transferred there. The old station was demolished in 2015 due to construction work on the new M4 line. The station is 688 meters from Duomo station and 528 meters from Palestro station. 🔴 M1 🔴: SESTO 1°MAGGIO FS The station was opened on September 28, 1986, as the terminus of the extension from Sesto Marelli. Work began on installing platform screens on Track 1 on June 15, 2012, and on Track 2 the following year, while Track 3 (downhill only) remained unprotected. After seven years of using the barriers, in April 2019, it was decided to remove them from platform 2 and, towards mid-May 2019, also from platform 1. Within the next few years, the current terminus will be moved to the new terminus, and future M5 interchange, at Monza Bettola, located in the Bettola district of Cinisello Balsamo. An intermediate stop, Sesto Restellone, will also be added. The station is located within the municipality of Sesto San Giovanni, in Piazza 1º Maggio, near the Ferrovie dello Stato train station. Until the summer of 2021, the station was connected to the Sesto San Giovanni station via an underground corridor; it also has exits in Piazza 1ºMaggio and Viale Antonio Gramsci. In addition to being connected by the train services of Sesto San Giovanni station and the Milan suburban rail service S7, S8, S9, and S11, Sesto 1ºMaggio FS is served by the bus network operated by ATM and by some services operated by Nord-Est Trasporti and Brianza Trasporti.
