Der "Doarstoan": Kirchdachspitze [2840m, Stubai] 1/3 №463

The Kirchdachspitze, also known as "Doarstoan" (Thunderstone), is a striking peak in the Stubai Alps. We've often seen it from the surrounding mountains, such as the Ilmspitze, the Habicht, and the Elferspitze, to name just a few. Its shape does indeed resemble a church, or rather a church roof, especially when viewed from the southwest or northeast. Even on my first visit to the Ilmspitze in 2017 (when I was hiking solo), this distinctive roof caught my eye, particularly since it was still covered in snow. The Kirchdachspitze has been on my mind ever since – and now it was finally time to climb it! For experienced and fit hikers, the summit poses no problem; no climbing is required, but sure-footedness and a head for heights are essential, as both the ascent and descent are very steep. You'll be rewarded with a wild and exciting route, a fantastic rest stop, a ladder, and of course, a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains (most notably the 3,277m high Habicht), the Stubai Valley, and the neighboring Gschnitz Valley.
