Poothana Moksham - Mohiniyattam Varnam

Poothana Moksham - Mohiniyattam Varnam 🪷 Choreography: Dr. RLV Ramakrishnan Thaalam: Aadi Thalam Raagam: Kaapi Presented by: Mrs. Shwetha Vaishakh 🪷 🪷 Story: The story of Poothana’s liberation is a profound cycle of rebirth and divine grace. Here is a brief summary of her journey: The Origin (Ratnamala): In a previous life, she was Ratnamala, the daughter of King Bali. When she saw the dwarf-avatar Vamana, she was overcome with maternal love and wished to nurse him. However, when Vamana took her father's kingdom, her love turned to hatred, and she wished she could poison him. The Transformation (Lalitha): Reborn as the demoness Poothana, she was sent by Kamsa to kill infant Krishna. She used her powers of illusion to transform into Lalitha, a breathtakingly beautiful woman, to sneak into the village of Gokul undetected. The Liberation (Moksham): Poothana offered Krishna her poisoned breast. Krishna, recognizing her soul's original desire as Ratnamala, sucked out her life force along with the poison. By dying at the hands of the Divine, her demonic form was discarded, and her soul was granted Moksha (salvation), as Krishna accepted her as a mother figure.
