Equilibrium of Non-Concurrent Force Systems | Rotational Equilibrium

LECTURE 05a Here the concept of rotational equilibrium is introduced and explained in relationship to concurrent and non-concurrent force systems. The necessary conditions for 2D equilibrium are shown, and a problem is solved using the one rotational and two translational equilibrium equations. Lines of action that pass through a point of interest are shown to produce no tendency to rotate about that point, whereas lines of action that do not pass through the point of interest do produce tendencies to rotate.
