Laps During a Lapse in the Rain | Riding the Colliers Trail, Forest of Dean

It had been raining for most of the morning, but when the weather finally eased for a while, Tom and I took the opportunity to head out for muddy laps of the Colliers Trail in the Forest of Dean. The first half of this video is a more chatty vlog, while the second half follows the Colliers Trail in its entirety. I’ve used a mixture of real-time and sped-up footage to keep the video moving while still showing the route and what you can expect along the way. The Colliers Trail is an off-road, circular, waymarked route through the Forest of Dean, following the path of a former railway which served many of the local collieries. We rode the route clockwise on this occasion. A single lap is approximately 9 miles (14.5km) and usually takes me around 35–40 minutes if I’m riding continuously and not stopping for photographs, wildlife, coffee, or general faffing about! It’s a great introduction to cycling in the Forest of Dean, with straightforward navigation, beautiful woodland scenery, historic landmarks and non-technical terrain. You can stop at Pedalabikeaway (Forest of Dean Cycle Centre, where you can hire bikes) or following a short diversion, Mallards Pike café for a coffee and some food if you fancy it. The route is suitable for a wide range of bikes, including hybrids, mountain bikes and gravel bikes, and can easily be linked with many of the Forest’s other trails and routes if you’d like to explore further. If you enjoyed the video, please like, comment and subscribe. 😊👍 Your support, encouragement, and kindness are what keep my channel going. Thanks for watching and keep graveltating! ‪@cyclingcamerasandcoffee‬ 00:00:00 - Intro. 00:00:07 - Chatty loop. 00:15:18 - Full Colliers Trail loop. 00:33:17 - Outro.
