#E33 | Luc Mantel, Technicien paysagiste et Entrepreneur | Agent d’exploitation + Horticulteur CFC
Young Luc was neither particularly studious nor very interested in school. His academic difficulties led him to VSO, the final level of the old Vaud system. After repeating a year and attending a private school, he continued his education without a clear idea of his future. He then took on numerous internships: carpentry, cabinetmaking, landscaping, and even as a maintenance worker. Encouraged by his father, Luc finally landed an apprenticeship as a maintenance worker with the Municipality of Lutry. He quickly came to appreciate working outdoors, the practical aspects of the job, and above all, discovered the world of plants and nature, which became a true passion. He then pursued a second vocational diploma (CFC) in horticulture, specializing in landscaping, again with the Municipality of Lutry, which decided to keep him on thanks to his dedication and the quality of his work. At the end of his training, the municipality, no longer retaining its apprentices, led Luc to join a private company. In four years, he progressed to become a team leader. Eager to take on more responsibility and gradually transition from fieldwork to office work, he enrolled in a vocational training program for Landscape Technicians (ES) in Fribourg while continuing his work. Subsequently, he joined Mille et un Jardin in Échandens, a company where he found an environment more aligned with his values. There, he completed his ES qualification and was able to fully put his new skills into practice. At the same time, a friend suggested he participate in an entrepreneurial venture. Together, they founded Services Mania Sàrl, a cleaning company. After a period of growth, the company now employs two people. Luc's journey demonstrates how vocational training can transform a challenging academic path into a fulfilling and ambitious career. From a young man with little interest in school to a qualified Landscape Technician (ES), holder of two Federal Certificates of Competence (CFC), and entrepreneur, he perfectly illustrates the potential of apprenticeships. 🎧 Full podcast available on our audio platforms, link in bio. 🔗 [https://monapprentissage.ch](https://monapprentissage.ch/) #VocationalTraining #Apprenticeship #FarmingAgent #Horticulturist #Landscaper #ESTraining #Entrepreneur
