Hello! It's been a while since I've done a Huangshan travel vlog. 😉 It's been so hot in Shanghai, China, that I haven't been able to venture out much. But now that it's a bit cooler, I went on a two-day, one-night trip to nearby Huangshan! I've put together a quick itinerary, costs, and precautions for those planning a trip to Huangshan! 📌 Huangshan Travel Itinerary and Cost Summary 🚝 Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station - Huangshan North Station: 3 hours (First-class ticket: 375.5 yuan per person) 🚌 ​​Huangshan North Station - Huangshan Scenic Area: Approximately 50 minutes (30 yuan per person) 🚌 ​​Huangshan Scenic Area - Yungu Temple South Gate Entrance: Approximately 20-30 minutes (19 yuan per person) 🎫 Huangshan Yungu Temple Admission Ticket: 90 yuan per person (Originally 180 yuan, but half-price in September due to the off-season) 🚠 Yungu Cable Car: Approximately 20 minutes (80 yuan per person) 🏔️ Climb Day 1: Yungu Course (Yungu Cable Car - Climb the back mountain of Huangshan - Stay at the Xihai Hotel) 🏔️ Climb Day 2: Xihai Grand Canyon Course (Xihai Grand Canyon - Monorail *per person) 100 CNY) - Yubing Cable Car 📌 This is a relatively easy hike for beginner hikers. If you choose the West Sea Grand Canyon as your first day, you'll experience a truly challenging climb! Actually, the course I took was considered easy... but the uphill and downhill stairs are quite steep, so be prepared! 🏨 I booked a one-night stay at the West Sea Hotel in the main building for 1,346 CNY (including breakfast), but they upgraded me to the new building! (The new building is much nicer, so book it!) 🍲 I had a McMorning at the train station for breakfast, wontons at the Huangshan Scenic Area restaurant for lunch, and the hotel buffet for dinner was 180 CNY per person. However, due to diet concerns, I thought the buffet would be too heavy, so I brought some food from home to make up for it! 📌 The hotel restaurant offers a la carte menus (cucumber salad 40 yuan, meat dishes 80-100 yuan, etc.), but personally, I wasn't very impressed with the taste, so I prepared some in advance. It would be helpful to bring light items like cup ramen and instant rice. There's a coffee pot in the hotel. 🎒 Since you'll be hiking with a backpack, you should pack as light as possible, but I recommend bringing a raincoat, just in case you encounter rain like I did. Other essentials include hiking boots, hiking poles, a hat, water, and snacks. 🏋️ While the Huangshan hiking trail is well-maintained, there are so many stairs that it feels like a three-day Stairway to Heaven. Get plenty of exercise and be sure to bring snacks to replenish your energy! 🏕️ In addition to staying at the hotel on the mountain, there's also the option of staying in tents in the hotel's courtyard (130 yuan per tent), but it's inconvenient and doesn't include showers, so I don't recommend it... It seemed like a lot of Chinese college students do this. Of course, there's also the cheaper option of staying at a hotel at the foot of the mountain. However, staying at the foot of the mountain might mean you can't see the sunset or sunrise. 💰If you're traveling independently, I recommend installing Alipay or WeChat Pay! Of course, I've seen Taiwanese people pay with bills, so they seem to accept cash, but it can be inconvenient. 📌 I don't recommend visiting during Chinese elementary, middle, and high school vacations or public holidays. I recommend visiting in spring or fall.
