Exdirector del SII por cobro del CAE:"El embargo no se puede aplicar en frío, tiene que ser avisado"

The government's sweeping reforms, taxes, and the collection of overdue debts from the State-Guaranteed Student Loan (CAE) program are some of the topics that former director of the Internal Revenue Service (SII) and former Treasurer of the Republic, Hernán Frigolett, has commented on in recent days. Regarding the so-called National Reconstruction Law, the economist stated that there is an "excessive optimism" concerning the investment effects expected by the government. He also criticized the government for turning a blind eye to online gambling platforms, which, despite being illegal, are slated to be taxed by the SII. On "Línea Uno" on #RadioUsach, we spoke with Frigolett about the cases affecting various CAE (Student Loan) debtors, who have had their bank accounts and assets seized by the General Treasury of the Republic: "In this case, the seizure is quite broad. Properties, real estate, financial assets, and balances in checking accounts, time deposits, and in the case of companies, invoices can also be seized." On the other hand, the former director of the SII (Internal Revenue Service) pointed out that "it is important that the seizure not be applied arbitrarily. There must be communication with the debtor, clearly stating that they have an outstanding debt, and if no process is initiated to enroll in a payment plan, these measures will be taken."
