Through the medium of art, Fernando Amorsolo influenced the way in which Filipinos perceive their own identity. It was his signature use of light and color that defined a generation of paintings that depicted rural life, historical events, and the resiliency of the Filipino people. He was the first National Artist of the country. In this interview, his daughter, Sylvia Amorsolo Lazo, who is also a visual artist, provides personal insights into her father's life and accomplishments.
