The journalist Teresa Gómez, from The Objective, revealed on the program El Cascabel an alleged spying plot targeting judges and prosecutors at the National Court. The plan was reportedly orchestrated by José Ángel Prieto, a businessman under investigation in the largest VAT fraud case involving the sale of hydrocarbons. Prieto opened a restaurant called Raíz just 100 meters from the courthouse, presumably to monitor the magistrates. Police suspect that recording devices may have been installed in the restaurant, although it is unclear whether the objective was to obtain information or to blackmail.
