Here, the image of large prides dominating green plains, surrounded by abundant herds, doesn't exist. In the desert, that would be too expensive a fantasy. Large prides consume too much. They move too much. Where prey is scarce and water is almost an apparition, living in small groups, or even nomadically, is not a choice, it's a strategy. Two lions are enough. Two silent bodies.
