KNOCKED OUT!? BIKC Junior Regional Finals Harlow

BIKC REGIONALS ✅ A really fun event which the marshals did a great day of running. A shame not to make it through due to some kart issues but still enjoyed it nonetheless! Here is how it went: Practice: P6 Q1: P3 H1: P2 Q2: P4 H2: P5 Q3:P2 H3:P2 Semi Finals: P2⬇️P4 Grand Final: P8⬆️P4 I managed to set a decent lap for heat one and line up in P3. Managed to get a good start and got past @elliot_griggs_racing and then managed to stay in P2 behind Rory. Heat 2 I lined up in P4 from a very close qualifying. I managed to get a decent start once again and got into P3 after a few laps the driver in front made a mistake so I went for the overtake on the bottom floor but he didn’t see me and turned across and I went headfirst into the barrier which sent my kart up into the air and half spun me round. I dropped all the way down to P6 with a large gap to P5. I got my head down and managed to catch up and made the move on the last lap and managed to take P5. Heat 3 was pretty simple as both me and Rory pulled two very strong karts and Rory managed to set an unofficial lap record of a 31.663 in the quali! I lined up in P2 behind him and we managed to gap the rest of the field by a significant margin and finished 1-2 The semi final is where it went wrong for me. I was given a kart which I could immediately tell was miles off the pace, I started in P2 and after having a good battle with Elliot he flew off into the distance. But once my kart was in clear air I realised how bad the situation was, where I was consistently lapping over 1.8 seconds a lap slower than my best. I tried to defend P3, but I got dived up the inside into turn one, but when I went for the switchback my kart fully cut out and I had no power for about a second, which ruined my chance of holding P3. From then on I defended the entire field for the rest of the race and managed to finish P4 Starting P8 in the final with nothing to lose I got a mega start managing to get into P4 within a couple of laps with some great overtakes. But it was too late, having a kart that was consistently 0.4-0.6 slower a lap I was not able to catch the gap to P3.
