I Let Someone Else Control My Race…

After 8 weeks of Runna training, everything came down to this. Today at Albert parkrun Middlesbrough , I handed control of my race to someone else. Hazelle kindly offered to pace me… but there was one problem. She’s fast. I’m… me. What followed was gritted teeth, heavy legs, plenty of “COME ON!” and a real test of what can happen when you trust someone else to bring the best out of you. Hazelle was there with her running fiancé Matthew, but for this one she was on pacing duties trying to drag a giant around a park After the finish, things got even stranger when Hayley spotted something strange swimming in the lake behind us whilst we stood getting our photo taken by the Parkrun sign. Was it Middlesbrough's version of the Loch Ness Monster? 😳 I also asked about their own Personalbest favourite parkruns, before I asked the most important question… where’s the best coffee in Middlesbrough? That answer led me to Off The Ground for the official post-run Personalbest analysis ☕️ If you enjoy real running stories, honest moments, humour, community, cafés and chasing progress one step at a time, subscribe and join the Besties.
