Emma Turns Three

Emma Turns Three is an English Country Dance devised by Gary Roodman, and was published in "A Finite Set of Calculated Figures" in 2003 for the third birthday of his grand-daughter, Emma: https://calculatedfigures.com/. It is a three face three dance. This is designed to be danced in a Sicilian Circle, but can be done in a longways set (as here). The tune, also called Emma Turns Three was composed by Jonathan Jensen, and performed by MGM (Mary Lea, Gene Murrow and Margaret Ann Martin) and Reunion (Daniel Beerbohm and Jonathan Jensen) on the album New Friends. The animation plays at 1 second per bar normally, but the first time through the set the dance is slowed down so people can learn the moves more readily. This is not a couple dance and there are no obvious gender roles in it. There is a difference between what the center dancer does and what the ends do. The center dancer is more active than others.
