Three's Company (Twelve's a Crowd)

Three's Company (Twelve's a Crowd) is an American Country Dance devised by Gary Roodman, and published in "A Sequence of Calculated Figures" in 2015, https://calculatedfigures.com/. It is a dance for 12 people in a square formation with trios on each side (instead of couples). The tune is a traditional one called "Trip to Durrow". It was performed by Cilantrio (Karen Axelrod, Kate Barnes, and Mary Lea). The recording comes from the album "Mr. Roodman's Fancies" which was given to me by and used with permission of Gary Roodman. The instructions designate one person in each trio as the "leader". Originally s/he will be on the right of the trio, and will always be drawn with an ellipse. This person remains the leader all through the dance, no matter what role s/he is currently playing — this becomes important for the last figure of the minor set. The animation plays at 109 counts per minute normally, but is slowed down first time through the set so the dance is easier to learn (music will not play for this slow set). Each couple is drawn in its own color, however the border of each dancer indicates what role they currently play so the border color will change each time through the minor set.
