Unions at Sibanye Stillwater agree to 4.5% wage increase
Unions at mining giant Sibanye Stillwater have secured a 4.5% wage increase following protracted negotiations that ended in a CCMA-led compromise. AMCU, NUM, Solidarity and UASA took Sibanye to the CCMA after declaring a wage dispute when their initial demand was rejected. That included a 6.5% salary increase for skilled roles and a one thousand three hundred rand (R1,300) increase for the lowest-paid workers. Now, a CCMA compromise offer of three years has now been accepted by three of the four unions. NUM, Solidarity, and Uasa that have agreed to an offer of 4.5% and a R850 monthly wage increase for Category 4 to 8 workers.
