Keighley and Worth Valley Railway: Diesel Gala 2026. 20/06/2026

The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway held their annual Diesel Gala in June 2026. The visiting locomotives were: BR Class 31 No 31108 BR Class 31 No 31210 BR Class 37 No 37250 BR Class 37 No 37218 Carbon Redeemer BR Class 50 No 50049 Defiance BR Class 55 Deltic No 55009 Alycidon 0:00 We start at Keighley and departing the station with a Demonstraition Freight is BR Class 37 No 37250. This locomotive was a last minute guest due to classmate 37025 Inverness TMD pulling out due to Brake issues during the week. 1:03 BR Class 50 No 50049 Defiance pulls into Keighley station with a service from Oxenhope. Built in 1968, she was withdrawn in 1991 and preserved by the Class 50 Alliance. 1:53 At Ingrow West, BR Class 47 No 47715 Rail Engineering Solutions - Quality Assured departs towards Oxenhope with a Passenger Service. This locomotive visited the railway at Last Year's Gala and has since traded its Network Southeast livery in for Virgin Trains livery. 2:36 BR Class 37 No 37250 heads through Ingrow West with its freight bound for Keighley. 3:01 BR Class 08 No 08266 arrives into Ingrow with the Shuttle. It would next back into the siding to await a passing service. 3:50 BR Class 50 No 50049 Defiance arrives at Ingrow with a service for Oxenhope. In 1987, the locomotive was modified with Class 37 bogies and painted in Railfreight livery for testing on freight duties. The experiment was not successful. 4:26 Back at Keighley, BR Class 08 No 08993 Ashburnham arrives with the Shuttle from Ingrow. The locomotive spent some of its life on the Burry Port and Gwendraeth Valley Railway hence the cut down cab. 5:16 At Oakworth, BR Class 37 No 37250 departs with a service for Oxenhope. The locomotive is visiting from The Wensleydale Railway. 6:11 After a brief look at the recently restored GWR Wagon, BR Class 31 No 31210 and Class 37 No 37250 arrive and then depart Oakworth with a service for Keighley. The Class 31 is usually based at The Great Central Railway. 7:50 From the footbridge at Haworth, BR Class 50 No 50049 Defiance departs towards Oxenhope. 8:27 BR Class 47 No 47715 passes by Haworth depot with a service for Oxenhope. 9:22 In the yard is BR Class 55 Deltic No 55009 Alycidon which had just been fired up for its tour of duty. We see the Deltic come off shed at Haworth. 10:12 BR Class 55 Deltic No 55009 Alycidon and Class 47 No 47715 arrive at Haworth. We next see the pair departing Oakworth on their way to Keighley. 11:51 From the roadside, we see BR Class 31 No 31108 begin the climb to Mytholmes Tunnel. Built in 1959, this locomotive is visiting from the Midland Railway Centre in Butterley as part of A1A Locomotives Ltd. 12:29 We next see 31108 arriving at Oakworth with a service back to Keighley. 12:58 We next visit Damems where we see the Keighley to Damems Shuttle. Class 31 No 31210 and Class 55 No 55009 Alycidon are see arriving and departing with the train. 15:25 BR Class 37 No 37250 and BR Class 50 No 50049 Defiance arrive at Damems with a service for Keighley. 16:11 Departing Damems, we see Europhoenix Class 37 No 37218 Carbon Redeemer in the loop before the train opens up for its trip through the Worth Valley. 17:25 At Oxenhope, Europhoenix Class 37 No 37218 Carbon Redeemer arrives with a service. Built in 1963, she was modified to run on Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil a few months back. Its participation in the gala was up in the air when its owners Europheonix ceased training earlier in the week. Whilst 37407 could not attend, Hanson & Hall managed to get 37218 to the Gala. 18:17 BR Class 08 No 08993 Ashburnham runs down the bank at Keighley Station with the Shuttle. 19:05 We end with BR Class 31 Nos 31108 and 31210 begin the climb out of Keighley with a service for Oxenhope. #Railways #Trainspotting #DieselGala
