Gladiator - a look at surely most successful Roman era movie of recent decades

Today we talk about Ridley Scott's Gladiator (2000), starring Russell Crowe and look at the film and the history behind it. This is one of the most influential portrayals of Ancient Rome at its height and a grand piece of cinema. We talk about the politics, the actual events as well as the fictional portrayal in the movie, and obviously we talk about gladiators and amphitheatres. At the end we take a close look at the battle between the Roman army and some Germanic warriors from the start of the film.
