Protesters recklessly vandalized public facilities. Tensions escalated when a group of protesters began acting anarchically by tearing down the security fence. As a result, police were forced to take decisive action by deploying tactical vehicles to disperse the increasingly unruly crowd. The fence on the west side of the Grahadi State Building in Surabaya was damaged after being targeted with objects thrown and vandalized by demonstrators chanting "Indonesia Sekat" on Friday evening (June 26, 2026). The damaged fence beams were then used to pelt officers and security personnel who had been on standby to secure the building from inside since the afternoon. Not only were fence beams thrown, but the protesters also threw stones, water bottles, and even firecrackers at officers. Furthermore, the light box bearing the East Java Provincial Government logo and the New Nusantara Gate on the west side of Grahadi was also damaged and shattered.
