NUM Elections | Phillip Vilakazi elected new NUM president

Former Deputy President of the National Union of Mineworkers Phillip Vilakazi has been elected as the union's new president. He defeated the outgoing president, Daniel Balepile, in a close contest. Vilakazi secured 411 votes against Balepile's 331, with a total of 747 delegates from 11 regions casting their ballots. In addition to Vilakazi's election, Mpho Phakedi has been installed as the new General Secretary, and Olehile Kgware as the new deputy president.
