Nova's parents see things completely differently. For them, gender is not purely physical or biological, but is also formed over the course of life by external influences and experiences. Therefore, Nova cannot yet be assigned a gender, because she has to discover that for herself over the course of her life. And Nova's parents hope to raise children with fewer prejudices this way. A discrimination-free world is their goal. A study from Uppsala University in Sweden supports their view.
