Aldekerk is a village in the municipality of Kerken on the Lower Rhine, 16 km northwest of Krefeld. The Aldekerk railway stop is located on the Kleve-Cologne railway line and was opened in 1863, initially as a station. In addition to the two through tracks, there was also a separate track for freight loading. This track included a goods shed, a loading platform, and a loading ramp. However, this track was removed at the end of the 1980s. Only the goods shed survived to this day. With the modernization of the station beginning in 2006, the last traces of this track were completely erased. First, in 2006, the platforms were modernized. The old island platform 2 was removed and replaced by the current side platform. Platform 1 was then renovated accordingly, so that today both platforms are 150 m long and 76 cm high. In the 2010s, a large park-and-ride lot and a bicycle parking facility were built adjacent to platform 2. In 2020, the municipality of Kerken added a small sports park between the parking areas and the Bruchstraße level crossing. With the exception of a small section of the loading area north of the shed, all former freight loading areas have thus been redeveloped. The over 150-year-old station building has been privately owned since 2013 and is now used as a restaurant.
