Bedburg-Hau is a municipality with 13,600 inhabitants on the Lower Rhine, 70 km northwest of Düsseldorf. The train station is located on the Cologne–Kleve (–Nijmegen) railway line and was opened in 1911. The railway line itself, however, has been in operation at this location since 1863. Even then, two platforms were available for passenger traffic, with platform 2 being an island platform. Until the mid-1990s, there was a track for freight loading, with a goods shed, loading platform, and end ramp. Afterwards, the track was shortened to its current configuration. It is used specifically for transferring transformers from rail to truck. At the same time, the connecting track to the power plant of what is now the LVR Clinic Bedburg-Hau, which is located directly next to the station, was also removed. In October 2007, the current platform 2 was put into operation. Subsequently, platform 1 was also modernized. Since 2008, both platforms have been 150 meters long and 76 centimeters high. They are connected by the Peter-Eich-Straße level crossing. The mechanical signal box Hf, which was attached to the station building, was decommissioned in August 2021 and replaced by a new electronic interlocking system (ESTW-R), which is remotely controlled from Kleve. The station building was sold in 2010 and now houses a restaurant.
