Svashta - How to Draw This Versatile Zentangle Pattern by Anica Gabrovec (Zen Linea)

In this video I'm drawing Svashta, a wonderfully versatile Zentangle pattern created by Anica Gabrovec, also known as Zen Linea. The name comes from a Croatian word meaning "everything", which suits it perfectly - Svashta can fill almost any shape and adapt to whatever space you give it. Anica first drew it to fill a ribbon-shaped space beneath a Christmas tree, and the second time she drew it, it became the Christmas tree itself. A real chameleon of a tangle. In my version I've filled the space and then added small crescent moons around the outside, continuing with auras to create a background texture for the whole thing to sit on. I really like how that's come together - the auras give it a sense of the pattern growing outwards beyond its own edges. I'm drawing Svashta as part of day 13 of my 50-day Zentangle art challenge, where I'm working through 50 different patterns on one large piece of A3 Khadi cotton paper throughout the summer.
