Hank the Octopus/ Septopus cake from Finding Dory

My niece wanted a Disney Pixar's Finding Dory cake for her fourth birthday. Since we both loved him in the movie so much, I decided to make a Hank the octopus cake, sorry that would be septopus. He lost one of his legs to a child if I remember correctly. I baked, stacked and carved the cake then covered it in white chocolate ganache. Because he is a 360 round character I but the board on a turntable so it was easy to move it around. I made the legs out of modelling chocolate and attached to his body. Then draped fondant over him and smoothed out the joins. I added texture to his skin using a stamp I made. I made his suckers out of modelling chocolate and attached them one by one to his legs. I put his eyes and little blow holes on and started painting. I used edible food colour mixed with vodka to add colour to his body and the rocks below. When the cake was finished I got my niece to help me make some coral and we coloured it using petal dust. I then added sugar sand to the board and my niece helped me put the corals on to the rocks. The cake was a hit! We were a little nervous she might be sad to cut into Hank, but there was no hesitation, she was just as excited to eat him! FB:   / letterpressb.  .
