Sculpting & Decorating a Giant Octopus Cake!

There are few things we love making at the bakery more than sculpted animal cakes. This giant version, of a tiny blue ringed octopus is the perfect mix of cute and intimidating! He might not be Hank the Octopus from Finding Dory, but to us he's still just as lovable and cuddly as an octopus cake can be! Fun octopus fact for the kids out there: they have 8 legs/tentacles. If you follow this as a cake decorating tutorial be sure to get that right... unlike our first attempt. And while the real blue ringed octopus species might be incredibly poisonous, this cake is as tasty as they come with our moist yellow cake and orange creamsicle buttercream. The marshmallow fondant tentacles and suckers look absolutely amazing, and give this sculpted cake a ton of personality and movement.
