NEW FOREST WALK at HATCHET POND (NEW FOREST NATIONAL PARK)

I continue my series of "New Forest Walks" with a visit to Hatchet Pond. Logan (my Whippet) & I visit the "Beaulieu Letters" on Bagshot Moor & the site of the WW1 Airfield at East Boldre before going on to the beautiful Hatchet Pond. We then head North to the edge of the Hawkhill Inclosure before heading South again to investigate a Bronze Age Barrow & an unusual "Saxon" Earthworks. We also come across some "Devil's Finger" Fungi. The Beaulieu Letters are cut into the heathland turf & lined with chalk ( not "carved out in chalk" as I mention in the clip!). In addition, the letters were restored in 2012 (and not 2004). Map courtesy of Google Maps. Aerial pictures courtesy of Google Maps. Music from the Youtube Audio library.
