Is Yu-Gi-Oh Better Because It's Complicated?

Yu-Gi-Oh is still around today, and it has changed a lot. Like, a lot, a lot. Even though Yu-Gi-Oh is a game that we all have very fond memories of, it certainly doesn’t have the same cultural significance as it did 25 years ago. A lot of people I talk to are surprised to hear it even still exists at all. Over the years there have been multiple rule changes, new card types and summoning mechanics added, and of course, plenty of effects that only seem to get longer and more convoluted with each passing year. After dominating our childhood free-time, what caused so many people to turn their backs on Yu-Gi-Oh in the modern day? Well, the complaint I most often hear from would-be-Yu-Gi-Oh players can be boiled down to one simple thing: “Yu-Gi-Oh is too complicated.” Now, this isn’t such an easy point to address, and it is certainly at least a little true, Yu-Gi-Oh is definitely a complicated game, but today I’d like to show you that the complexity of Yu-Gi-Oh is actually its greatest strength. And maybe, just maybe, things haven’t changed as much as you think since the days of old school Yu-Gi-Oh. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- #YuGiOh #YuGiOhTCG ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _______________________________ ➥ Buy and Sell your Yu-Gi-Oh! cards: 🛒 https://www.cardmarket.com/en/YuGiOh 0:00 Intro 1:31 Yu-Gi-Oh's Origin 4:43 The Playground Era 6:55 GOAT vs Modern 8:53 Complicated is Better Than Confusing 14:22 What it Says vs What it Does 18:00 The Extra Deck Controversy 19:53 What's Next? !Opinions expressed in this video are those of the video creator and not necessarily Cardmarket.
