COLLEGE SECURITY DOES NOT WANT VISITORS! POPE LEO’S LANDSCAPING COMPANY! History in the Suburbs!

In this episode of The Philly Captain, I hit the road and explore the suburbs of Philadelphia to uncover the early roots of some famous names and historic places you probably never knew about. The adventure starts at one of the oldest surviving homes in the region — the 2 ½ story log cabin once owned by the grandparents of Daniel Boone. From there, I head out to the historic village of Skippack Village, where I check out buildings that are older than the United States itself and walk the streets lined with local shops and colonial-era charm. Next, I visit Ursinus College to track down the former dorm room of legendary author J. D. Salinger. The school has had so many visitors trying to see it that they’ve posted warnings about trespassing — but I’ll show you exactly where it is and the story behind it. To wrap things up, I head over near Villanova University and visit St. Denis Church, where I talk about the wild story of how a future pope—Pope Leo XIV—once worked as a landscaper on the grounds. This vlog is all about hidden history, unexpected connections, and the stories behind places you drive past every day without realizing their significance. If you love local history, Philly suburbs, and discovering where legends got their start, this one’s for you. 👉 Don’t forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more adventures with The Philly Captain. #PhillyCaptain #PhiladelphiaSuburbs #LocalHistory #HiddenHistory #Skippack #UrsinusCollege #JDSalinger #DanielBoone #Villanova #PhillyVlog
