This was our day in Palermo, Sicily. What started as a relaxing stroll turned into a journey full of surprises and hilarious mishaps. ⛪ Church of Jesus (Chiesa del Gesù) This church is one of Palermo's most representative Baroque buildings. Almost every corner of the interior is covered in marble inlays and carvings. The details are so exquisite that it's hard to know where to start. Unlike its understated exterior, stepping inside is a truly awe-inspiring experience. It's definitely worth stopping to appreciate it properly in Palermo. Next, we visited the incredibly famous nun's pastry shop. 🍰 Nuns' Pastries (Segreti del Chiostro) This pastry shop actually originates from a convent tradition. In the past, nuns made pastries within the convent. Now, these classic recipes are preserved and sold to the public. The style of the pastries is quite different from typical Italian pastries. The flavors are more delicate, traditional, and imbued with a rich historical feel. Coming here is not just about eating desserts; it's about experiencing a culture. 🥕 Palermo Farmers Market Palermo's market is incredibly vibrant, filled with vendors' calls, local ingredients, and a strong sense of everyday life. It doesn't feel like a tourist attraction; it feels like a place where locals shop daily: fresh vegetables, fruits, seafood, and spices are all readily available. We bought ingredients here and cooked our own meals back at our guesthouse. This experience of "living like a local" became the most memorable part of the entire trip. But unexpectedly, a sudden downpour soaked us to the bone 😂, making the day even more unforgettable.
