Großbrand auf Bauernhof - Feuermeer richtet Millionenschaden an - Feuerwehr rettet 100 Rinder

On Tuesday evening, around 11:30 p.m., a major fire broke out on a farm in Unternankau, in the municipality of Leuchtenberg (Neustadt an der Waldnaab district, Bavaria). When the first emergency services arrived, several farm buildings were already fully ablaze. The glow of the fire was visible from a great distance. More than 300 emergency personnel from the region were on site to bring the fire under control. They managed to protect an adjacent residential building from the flames. However, the affected stables and barns burned down completely. At the time of the fire, around 100 dairy cows were in the stables. Thanks to the fire department's quick and coordinated response, all animals were rescued and taken to a nearby meadow. A veterinarian examined the animals on site. Some of them sustained injuries; some may require euthanasia due to their injuries. Two residents suffered minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for medical treatment. A firefighter also sustained minor injuries. The Criminal Investigation Department has begun an investigation into the cause of the fire. Currently, no definitive information is available on the cause of the fire. Initial estimates put the property damage at over one million euros.
