"Licks Learning Path" - a simple way to get better at lead guitar

Most videos on learning lead guitar tend to focus on scales and techniques, but not as many help you learn how to build a vocabulary of the most basic and useful licks. In this video I'll share how I did it back in the early 1970's; before the internet, YouTube, or tabs. It was all eyes and ears back then (that's about all we had), and a lot of it was shapes-based. I'll go over a suggested learning path that includes many of the most common types of licks you hear in classic rock/metal. The licks are grouped into several high-level categories. For each category, I'll give you a short description, relate it to underlying chords or scales, and touch on the music theory that makes it sound the way it does. Then I'll play a few short examples from famous songs showing the different variations. The examples are filmed from the player viewpoint, and include examples from: Chuck Berry, Beatles, CCR, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, the Stones, Metallica, Tom Petty, the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Boston, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Journey, Gary Moore, Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, Van Halen, Guns N' Roses, Pantera, Mountain, the Allman Brothers, Iron Maiden, Ritchie Blackmore, Mark Knopfler, Randy Rhoads, ZZ Top, Eric Clapton, the Who, and Van Morrison. Most of the shapes and graphics in this video are from my mobile app, "The Building Blocks Of Rock". You can find it on the App Store (Apple) and Google Play (Android): "The Building Blocks Of Rock" mobile app: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/the-bui... https://play.google.com/store/apps/de... I'm also going to try and come up with printable versions (.pdf files) of the learning path that I'll post for free download from my web site.
