It faces the Baietan Lake where three rivers meet in the Pearl River and is integrated with the European-style Shamian Historical District. It is a 5-minute walk to Huangsha Metro Station (Line 1/6), and can reach Guangzhou East Station and Baiyun Airport within 1 hour. The exterior is a modern building, and the interior is centered on Lingnan gardens. The iconic atrium "Hometown Water" reproduces the traditional painting scene with rockery waterfalls, small bridges and pavilions, and has become a popular photo spot for citizens. White Swan Hotel is one of the landmark buildings of China's reform and opening up. It is the first five-star hotel in China designed, built and managed by Chinese people. White Swan Hotel has 6 restaurants, among which Yutang Chunnuan (1 Michelin star, 3 black pearl diamonds) is known as the "ceiling of Cantonese morning tea", and Hongtu Mansion (1 Michelin star) has a 180° river view. The White Swan Hotel has received a total of 150 dignitaries from more than 40 countries, including Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom (who enjoyed a six-course Cantonese banquet in 1986), US Presidents Nixon and Bush Sr., and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew. From 1979 to 1983, it was jointly built by "Hoyee Hung" and the Guangdong Provincial Tourism Administration with an investment of 50 million US dollars. The site was selected on the outer river beach of Shamian Island, where land was created by enclosing a cofferdam. It opened on February 6, 1983. With a height of 28 floors (about 99 meters), it was designed with the concept of "controlling floor height and maximizing space" to accommodate 843 guest rooms, becoming an important window for serving foreign guests of the Canton Fair. In 1985, it joined the "Leading Hotels of the World." In 1990, it was rated as one of the first batch of five-star hotels in China. In 1996, it topped the list of the top 50 excellent hotels in China. In 2003, after the end of the Sino-foreign cooperation period, it was taken over by the "Guangdong Provincial Government." In 2015, after a three-year renovation and closure, it reopened, retaining classic elements while upgrading its facilities. Hongtu Mansion: It has 180° floor-to-ceiling windows facing the Pearl River and White Swan Pond directly. Diners can enjoy the riverside view and cruise ships while dining. In 2021, it was promoted from the "Michelin Plate Award" to a "Michelin One Star Restaurant". The review praised it for having "dim sum that combines tradition and creativity, with exquisite dishes."
