Musicians Danger Dan and Igor Levit wanted to perform their song "Keine Angst" (No Fear) on the anniversary show of the ZDF satirical program "Die Anstalt" (The Institution). This didn't happen because the broadcaster decided that the song should not be performed. This doesn't necessarily threaten artistic freedom, as ZDF is simply exercising its right to control its programming. The song and its message have been the subject of discussion for days. It's striking that economic issues play no role in the seven-minute song. The strategies against the AfD (Alternative for Germany) and fascism read like something out of a 1990s left-wing activist handbook; they have nothing to do with real power structures or any sound strategy.
