VW Golf MK7 (5G) footwell light retrofit (part 1)

Footwell lights installation in Volkswagen Golf MK7 with correct coding and adaptation values to enable full ambient functionality in cars without the interior lighting package. In the first part of this DIY tutorial, first I'm showing how to remove plastic trims on the drives side to access BCM (Body Control Module), disconnect plug C, and add new terminal to the pin 72. Next to connect negative terminal to the chassis ground. All that is left for the part 2, is to guide wiring harness under the dashboard and install the lights in places designed for it on the passengers side and under front seats for back row illumination. With correct coding you can enable footwell lights to turn on with courtesy lights when you open the door, and will stay on dimmed when doors are closed and headlights are on. In car setup on the infotainment display you can adjust brightness of the background illumination. The same #footwell light retrofit procedure should fit other MQB cars, like Skoda Octavia 3 (5E), Seat Leon 3 (5F), Audi A3 (8V).
