It's the 5th Match of the India tour of New Zealand Odi Series in 1998/99. India won the toss and chose to bowl first. Matt Horne and Bryan Young opened the innings for New Zealand. Horne departed early with McMillan becoming the victim of Srinath later. Young and Twose both got to their half centuries before Ganguly run out and Srinath brilliance came. Chris Cairns carried on the momentum and didn't let the Indian bowler get somewhere in the game. He smashed 115 off just 80 balls before Kumble struck. New Zealand got to 300 for the loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs. India started their run chase positively with Ganguly getting himself on top of the bowlers, smashing classical boundaries and making the Kiwi bowlers feel pressure. He couldn't last long as he was dismissed by Doull. Dravid and Jadeja got some runs on the board. Azharuddin tried to get the team back on track but no one was there to help him out.
