Host: Septyana Eka VP: Bimayur Reporter: Danendra Kusuma NGANJUK - The Nganjuk Police Traffic Unit has announced the results of its investigation into the chronology of the head-on collision involving a Sugeng Rahayu bus with license plate number W 7571 UP and a dump truck with license plate number S 9687 UR. The incident occurred on Jalan Raya Bagor, Paron Village, Bagor District, Nganjuk Regency, on Saturday (July 4, 2026) afternoon, at around 12:30 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. The Head of the Law Enforcement Unit of the Nganjuk Police Traffic Unit, First Inspector Wahby Irfan Izzudin, explained that the accident began when the dump truck, driven by a man identified as R, was traveling from west to east. Tragically, upon arriving at the scene of the accident, which featured a curved road, the dump truck driver recklessly overtook another vehicle in front of him. "Because he was overtaking on a curve, the truck drifted too far to the right and took up the opposite lane. At the same time, the Sugeng Rahayu bus, driven by BR, was traveling east to west," said First Inspector Wahby, Saturday (July 4, 2026). Seeing the imminent threat of a collision, both drivers—the dump truck driver and the Sugeng Rahayu bus driver—fought to save their vehicles by swerving outward. However, because the vehicles were too close, this rescue maneuver was insufficient to avoid the collision. "The two vehicles eventually collided, hitting the side of the bus. After the collision, the dump truck continued to travel and struck a road divider and a tree, while the Sugeng Rahayu bus was thrown and plunged into the river," he added.
