The small village of Kalynivka in Ukraine’s Kyiv region became the scene of a tragedy. On the night of June 27–28, seven men stormed the property of two brothers, the Moseichuk brothers, and abducted them. According to investigators, the brothers were taken to the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade’s training ground in the Poltava region, where they were murdered and their bodies buried. Eight soldiers from the 155th Brigade are currently standing trial. The brigade commander, Stanislav Luchanov, remains wanted by authorities. His wife, Daryna Luchanova, was originally from Kalynivka, and Luchanov himself was known to visit the village from time to time. hromadske traveled to Kalynivka to understand what happened. In this report, the Moseichuk brothers’ relatives and neighbors recount the long-running conflict between the Luchanov family and local residents, and explain how the dispute escalated into tragedy.
