First Trip to Our New River Property (Camping, Cooking, Fishing)

We finally closed on a piece of property on one of my favorite rivers in Oklahoma — over an acre and a half with private river access. This is our first weekend out here with the family, and I'm walking you through how we found the property, why we chose this area, what it took to close on it, and the plans for building a cabin. In this video: setting up camp in a race against the rain, cooking deer sausage and eggs, floating the river in the raft with my dad, brother, and son, cooking elk burgers, some fishing for smallmouth, frying up sandbass, campfire s'mores, and scouting out where the driveway, utilities, and cabin will go. This river has been a huge part of my life since I was a kid — my dad brought me up here floating and fishing when I was younger than my own son is now, and it's actually why I ended up going to college up the road. Now I get to build something here for my own family. If you want to see more of the property, the cabin build process, and getting utilities set up out here, let me know in the comments — I might turn it into a series.
