Entrenar por ritmo está pasado de moda: el gran error del corredor popular.

For years, endurance training has been built around pace: minutes per kilometer, target race times, fixed-speed intervals and generic plans for 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon runners. But modern exercise physiology shows a major problem: the same pace does NOT produce the same physiological stress in every athlete. Running at 5:00/km may be: ✅ Easy aerobic training for one runner ⚠️ Moderate threshold work for another ❌ Excessive fatigue for someone else And that’s the real issue: your watch tells you how fast you run… but not how much internal stress your body is experiencing. In this video, I explain why training only by pace is becoming outdated and why modern endurance training should rely more on physiological response: • Heart rate • Lactate thresholds • Perceived effort • Fatigue • Recovery • Heat and environmental stress • Internal load vs external load You’ll learn: ✅ Why pace alone can lead to overtraining and stagnation ✅ Why copying pace-based plans from other runners often fails ✅ The difference between external pace and internal physiological cost ✅ How heat, sleep, stress and fatigue affect pace ✅ Why masters and recreational runners need more individualized control ✅ When pace IS useful in training ✅ How to combine pace, heart rate and thresholds intelligently The goal is not to eliminate pace. The goal is to stop letting pace dominate your training decisions. First you build the engine. Then speed appears naturally. 🩺 I’m Alan Roca — holistic physician, endurance coach and specialist in sports psychology. On this channel I explain endurance training using exercise physiology, performance science and practical coaching.
