Hirakud Dam gates are scheduled to open today at 11:00 AM to release floodwaters. Initially, 4 sluice gates will be opened, gradually discharging up to 1 lakh cusecs of water. Currently, the water level at Hirakud stands at 611.23 feet, with a massive inflow of 2.62 lakh cusecs. Low-lying areas have been put on high alert ahead of the water release.
