Hirakud Dam Opens First Sluice Gate; Season's First Floodwater Released Authorities have announced that the Hirakud Dam will release this season’s first floodwater today at 11:00 AM. Initially, four sluice gates will be opened, with more gates to follow sequentially to discharge up to 1 lakh cusecs of water. Currently, the dam's water level stands at 611.23 feet, with a massive inflow of 2,62,000 cusecs due to heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas.
