From the Almosmühle near the medieval bridge in Pfünz, we cycle to Inching and Walting. There, at the Moierhof estate, we visit the last remaining tithe barn in the Altmühl Valley, dating back to the 15th century. Pfalzpaint impressed us greatly with its beautiful baroque church. The pleasant encounter and pleasant conversation with Theresia, the sexton's daughter-in-law, will remain fondly in our memories. The journey continues along one of Bavaria's oldest nature reserves, the Gungolding Juniper Heath. A special eye-catcher is the rocky massif rising steeply above the town of Arnsberg, on which the Arnsberg Castle ruins stand. Even from afar, the medieval Kipfenberg Castle greets you from its 430-meter-high dolomite cliffs. Above the castle is the geographical center of Bavaria. We don't want to miss this detour. The drive up the steep, winding road is impressive. Melanie and Sven didn't shy away from the steep climb either. It just so happened that we met at this striking spot. We were very pleased with the pleasant conversation. From Ilbing we travel to Kinding, past the Kratzmühle recreational complex, and arrive in Beilngries. Here, directly on the Altmühl River, is the Naturama campsite, home to Bavaria's first barrel hotel. Since 2016, you can stay overnight in sleeping barrels here. This idea has since been adopted by many campsites. From Beilngries, a lovely detour to the medieval town of Berching is a good option.
