Colne Bridge Road Bridge Nears Reopening (TransPennine Route Upgrade)
The replacement bridge at Colne Bridge Road is rapidly approaching completion as another major milestone is reached on the TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU). In this documentary, we follow the latest progress between Deighton Station and Bradley Junction, where engineers continue transforming the railway and surrounding infrastructure. From the newly installed Whitacre Street bridge deck to the replacement footbridge at Wheatley’s Colliery Bridge and the impressive progress at Colne Bridge Road, the future railway is becoming easier to visualise with every visit. This video includes: • Deighton Station construction update • Whitacre Street bridge deck progress • Future station footbridge foundations • Embankment stabilisation works • Leeds Road (A62) bridge update • Wheatley’s Colliery replacement footbridge • Greenway reconnection progress • Colne Bridge Road replacement bridge • Utility diversion works • Preparation for future four-tracking and electrification Construction at Deighton continues to gather pace, with platform works, bridge infrastructure and embankment stabilisation all advancing together. At Whitacre Street, preparations appear to be underway for another concrete pour as the bridge deck moves closer to completion. The documentary then follows the route to Wheatley’s Colliery Bridge, where the new replacement footbridge is structurally complete but remains closed while utility diversion works continue. Once finished, the bridge will reconnect an important section of the Greenway for pedestrians and cyclists. Finally, attention turns to Colne Bridge Road, where one of the most significant changes on this section of the route is taking shape. The new bridge is considerably wider than its predecessor, with a gentler approach for road traffic and additional clearance for the future installation of overhead line equipment. Ground-level footage reveals substantial progress on the retaining walls, road construction and utility diversions as the project moves towards its planned reopening. With visible changes now appearing almost every week, another important section of the TransPennine Route Upgrade is moving ever closer to completion. #TRU #TransPennineRouteUpgrade #ColneBridgeRoad #Deighton #BradleyJunction #Huddersfield #RailwayEngineering #NetworkRail #CivilEngineering Chapters 00:00 Introduction 01:15 Deighton Station & Whitacre Street Progress 04:45 Wheatley’s Colliery Bridge Replacement 07:30 Colne Bridge Road Transformation 10:20 Preparing For Reopening Keywords TransPennine Route Upgrade, TRU, Colne Bridge Road, Deighton Station, Whitacre Street bridge, Wheatley’s Colliery Bridge, Bradley Junction, Leeds Road bridge, Huddersfield railway, railway engineering, Network Rail, civil engineering, bridge replacement, four-tracking, electrification, West Yorkshire railway upgrades, Greenway, railway infrastructure.
